Passionate Indifference

“…Every Time It Rains, It Rains Pennies From Heaven.  Don’t You Know Each Cloud Contains Pennies From Heaven?  You’ll Find Your Fortune Falling All Over The Town.  Just Be Sure That Your Umbrella Is Upside Down…”  –Frank Sinatra The Trim of the Sail, not the direction of the Breeze, that sets the destination of the Craft! In life it is not what happens to us, it is what we do with what happens to us that determines our fate!We live in a world where we face headwinds, and lately, they seem to be going in the wrong direction. In the world of sailing, we adjust our sails and “tack” not taking the wind head-on but working somewhat diagonally and zig-zagging our way into the wind to ultimately reach our destination! Why is it most people seem to “expect” a constant tailwind when in reality that can only happen 25% of the time? When we “expect” certain outcomes, frustration and anger are going to come with it! When we dwell on the headwinds, sometimes of gale force, we lose the opportunity to adjust our sails and make some headway! The winds of change are constant!  But if we maintain our “True North” and never lose sight of our destination we can find that shore! “Jesus answered, ;I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”   John 14:6. Here’s to clear sailing!

Advance Warning

Imminent Threat – Advance Warning!  Let’s assume you just received serious, legitimate and reliable intel which told you a cataclysmic and life changing event was about to occur, like the Rapture.  (The Rapture is best described in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:50-54).  Your intel source further predicts that the event will occur on the 12th or 24th of June, 2016. What would you do with your remaining few weeks?  What relationships would you want or need to mend?  With family?  With God??? Seriously now, since no one knows the time or day or how many tomorrows we have left, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???  I’ll even jump-start the conversation for you… “I am truly sorry for…”  ”I am truly thankful for…”-LH 5/26/16

Karma and What Goes Around Comes Around

“What goes around comes around!”  “Karma’s a bitch.”  “They’ll get what they deserve.”  “He’ll get what’s coming to him.”  “That will come back and bite him some day!” How many times have we heard these things or something similar?  We have all heard about a day of reckoning and karma squaring things up at life’s end.  Regardless of spiritual belief (or non-belief), it seems that we all have a common understanding and acceptance that one day we will be required to answer for our shortcomings and will “get what we deserve.” Entertain me for a second here and assume that you suddenly found yourself all alone in the world, with nothing but your own conscience which revealed to you all of your lifetime triumphs and transgressions and the impact they had!  What would you be most truly sorry for?  What would you say?  What would you want to change most?  Last chance for the big dance and to get your karma flowing in the right direction! Now, let’s assume you now have been given the grace to try to redeem yourself for those transgressions.  One last chance to right the wrongs.  What would you do first?  How would you change your life?  Now, what if you knew today that the day of reckoning was Oct. 12, 2016?  What would you do with your last four months of fame?  Would you reflect back in October seeking redemption or blame?

Time is Not Your Friend

Time On Earth  Time is the most valuable asset you do not own.  It is a limited commodity that is allocated to us daily and can only be spent within the framework it is given. Time therefore is both an asset and a liability!  It is a precious asset that must be spent wisely.  It is also an unknown liability since we do not know when it will run out! So, make a conscious effort to always ask yourself, “is this good use of my time?  Am I wasting time and energy that I know I will never recover? It is important that we prioritize “proper use” of our time. Here are some helpful hints to help you prioritize your time.  Ask yourself every day:What are the most important things in my life right now?Who are the most important people in my life and if my time ran out, what would I would want them to know about me and about my impact on others mentally, physically and spiritually? What life lesson would I like the people I love to learn from my own mistakes? What was the most important thing I learned from my parents?   My Grandparents?  What did they teach me about God which I would like to share with my children and grandchildren? Now, what are the 3 most important things you need to accomplish…today!
